Moo

When we were asked to design an identity for Moo in Edinburgh, we needed to take into account all of the factors that had shaped the character of this unique cafeteria. The food and décor was influenced by a variety of different countries and cultures. ‘Astroboy’ manga comics and a 1976 miniature model farm are on display and this eclectic, quirky feel is carried through the creative work, which features clear typography combined with patterns found on china and crockery.

Production features such as spot UV varnish was used on menus and cards to echo the feel of crockery. Moo has a warm, informal but quirky tone of voice. The website section titled ‘things we like’ showcases retro cookbooks, while the blog, ‘Tales from mootown’ provides updates on their ‘Yakety Yak’ language classes.

The visual identity has been applied consistently and creatively to the interior and exterior of the café itself, to menus, cards, staff uniforms, receipts, ads and to the cafeteria website www.moocafeteria.co.uk and has gone on to be one of our award winning projects.
