Tackling volume and a brand refresh for SSE’s stakeholder communication set 2007

Rising stature

As a FTSE 100 utility company, the complexity and volume of SSE's reporting increases every year. And the stature of the company has risen considerably since our relationship started six years ago. At that time we conducted a major upgrade in all aspects of SSE's stakeholder comms suite and introduced various new features to improve navigation and enhance the graphic presentation. Having established the foundations for better quality information accessibility, we have been building on that upgrade ever since.

Renewed energy

Over the years SSE has evolved from a functional utility company to a people-friendly energy provider. To reflect this, the SSE brand undertook considerable development in 2007 and we were asked to adapt the tone of voice from their consumer advertising for the annual report. So we adopted an informal and plain speaking tone of voice to deliver key messages and introduced the new illustrative visual style across all the documents to ensure a consistent look and feel to all stakeholders targeted.
