Graduate Developer

Contract
Fixed-term contract with potential of permanent role.

The Role
Tayburn is looking for a talented graduate web developer with all-round front-end build and back-end coding skills.  This is an excellent opportunity to join an award-winning digital team at Scotland’s design agency of the year. Recent graduates or graduates with experience are invited to apply.

Reporting to Head of Digital, you will work on digital projects for well-recognised brands. You will primarily be tasked with turning approved designs into fully functioning, standards-compliant websites, using a toolkit of XHTML, CSS and Javascript. You must also be proficient in PHP coding and MySQL database design for our small-to-medium sized projects. Providing consultancy on usability and accessibility are all part of the job.
You will also gain experience in developing social media applications, email templates, online advertising and other digitally-based projects.

Skillset for the Graduate Web Developer role

Work-based skills

  • You must have a degree in web development (or a similar discipline)
  • You must possess excellent PHP , HTML, XML and CSS skills
  • You will have a good ‘eye for design’
  • A good understanding of user interface and experience
  • Familiar with a range of open source Content Management Systems
  • Able to demonstrate proficiency with physical and logical database design
  • Understand the necessary syntax to query relational databases
  • Proficient with cross-browser testing and fixing
  • Day-to-day problem-solving
  • Providing consulting to designers and other staff
