Forth Ports Annual Report 2009
Forth Ports Annual Report 2009
The 2009 Forth Ports Annual Report has arrived from the printers. The design of this year’s report is based around maritime signal flags. The use of these flags is intended to represent the core aspect of Forth Ports business in a vibrant and engaging way. This is complimented by a visual style that takes its lead from nautical charts, conveying a sense of precision and detail.
The theme is set up on the cover with an image of the Forth Ports head office featuring a flag outside, this flag translates as ‘Moving Forward’. On opening the document the main focus is shifted to the flags with each section in the front end of the document represented by a different flag. As with the cover these also convey relevant messages. (e.g. The chairman and Group chief executive’s statement sections flag translates as ‘I wish to communicate with you’).
The hierarchy of information in the front end is clearly defined and communicates key areas of information at a glance. The colours used are derived from those used in the flags creating clearly defined sections.
The illustration by Nick Hardcastle, works with the themes outlined above carrying that precision and detail through the front end of the document.
