Scottish rugby fans will follow their team to the ends of the earth, as well as around in their pocket obsessively checking their phones for scorelines. Any new website driving fan engagement had to be the very finest example of mobile-first design. Ardent fans would leave in their droves if usability was too hard a try.
A powerhouse of rich media
At the heart of our concept for the new Scottish Rugby website is the Match Day Centre. Before, during and after Scotland games this becomes a tight hub of rich media content including social media aggregation, live text commentary of the game and live player stats brought in using an API from Opta the data provider. Such has been the success in amplifying excitement around each game with fans, this solution has now been rolled out to include Scottish pro clubs Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby.
Scottish Rugby was looking to develop an online brand experience around match days that would engage fans and grow audiences. The team at Tayburn were quick to recognise our vision and used their creativity and knowledge of technology to develop a solution for Scottish Rugby's family of websites, which includes Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby. We have already seen an increase in engagement, site traffic and dwell time, especially on match days.
