Scottish Rugby

Scope: Planning and UX. Digital design and build.

All about the fans

Rugby fans will follow their team to the ends of the earth, as well as in their pocket, obsessively checking their phone for scorelines and news. Scottish Rugby wished to drive fan engagement and become a primary source for all this content and activity with the development of a new website for all parts of the game.

Content, content, content

At the heart of our solution is the Match Day Centre. Before, during and after games this becomes a hub of rich media content including social media aggregation, live text commentary of the games and live player stats brought in using an API from Opta the data provider. There’s a dedicated Fan Zone with podcasts, interviews, insights and all the video you could wish to consume.

Audience numbers are up

Visitor numbers are up by 29%. Dwell time increased too, with a bounce rate of less than 0.7%. And such has been the success in amplifying excitement around each game with fans, the innovative match day centre has now been rolled out for both Scottish pro clubs: Glasgow Warriors and Edinburgh Rugby.

“The team at Tayburn were quick to recognise our vision and used their creativity and knowledge of technology to develop a brilliant solution for Scottish Rugby”
